With so many people now looking to make money from home it is no surprise that the majority are looking at affiliate marketing as a career choice. But what is it about affiliate marketing that makes it this popular? Is it really possible to make as much money as all the experts?

For the last few years I have been lucky enough to achieve my goals and kick my old 9-5 day job in favour of working on what I want, when I want and for much more money. But when I first started it was far from what I was expecting.
I spent more money than I could afford on whole variety home business courses. Each one claimed to be able show me how to make hundreds of thousands of dollars a month without even having to get out of bed! Well that couldn’t be further from the truth; the majority of them were hard to follow and a total waste of time and money.
But for 95 bad courses you can also find 5 good ones that can and do show you how to make good money online. The problem is being able to indentify the good from the bad when ultimately they all look and sound the same. Pick the wrong one and you can lose interest very quickly and never make it, but pick the right one and it’s the best investment you will ever make.
So how do you decide? I always start with the name behind the course. Who are they? What have they done?
Well I can tell you Desmond Ong has been killing it online since around 2005, regularly earning and 5 and 6 figure monthly salary. But while this is all very impressive, it’s no guarantee that he can teach other people to do the same. I have bought courses by some of the top internet marketers around and found them to be a waste of time.
Desmond Ong: “I made around $2,000…just by spending 15 minutes at my computer”
This statement clearly shows that Desmond knows how to make money. He also claims that one of his students made $1,200 in 20 minutes by following the same strategy, a strategy that he shares a long with many others in this course.
Let’s jump straight in…
Emergency Money Plan: What’s Inside?
When Desmond sent me a copy of Emergency Money Plan I wasn’t very surprised as I already knew what to expect, but was the content good enough to teach people, with varying levels of knowledge, how to make money?
Inside the course you can expect to 10 money making module, so let’s have a look at each one…
Sneaky Affiliate Pull and Extended
This is one of the main methods that Desmond teaches and one that I have never personally used before. Having watched the video and seen how Desmond uses this method I understand why he calls it the sneaky affiliate method. Depending on the product you promote will depend on the amount of time you will need to spend on this to make money.
My suggestion is to find the most popular and well backed products available at the time otherwise you might find you spend all day searching without actually achieving anything. The extended version is based on the same idea but shows you a slightly different way of finding people to sell to. I am interested to see how this works as it is such an easy method to use I’m pretty sure anyone could do it. I will update this page with my results soon.
YouTube Domination
Ok so everyone has heard of YouTube, who hasn’t used it for one reason or another? We all know the kinds of traffic that passes through YouTube every single day, so imagine being able to redirect some of that traffic through to your affiliate offers. This is a method that I have successfully used in the past and in fact a friend of mine used this method to generate well over $100,000 promoting ring tones for cell phones (a small tip for you there when looking products)
This method is a lot quicker than the previous one, especially if you have a tried and tested product to push and know where to get it in front of people. Affiliate Desperado
Also known as the Google Backstab Method, this method takes a little longer than the previous two and doesn’t always generate a huge amount of money, but can make you consistent profit every month. One of Desmond’s students earns around $300 per month, which is not a huge amount but considering the time it takes to set up is pretty good when you see that figure repeated every month. Plus the more times you repeat the process the more money you will make each month.
The major downside to this method is that it will require you to write an article, which is every internet marketer’s worse nightmare. There are not that many people that enjoy writing but sadly it is a vital part of working in this industry. Of course, when you are earning money you can pay people to do the writing for you but until you are earning money from you work I suggest you do all the writing for yourself. If you are unsure on a topic then search Ezine Articles for example articles and simply re-write them.
Operation Alpha Method
This method may be a little too much for the beginner to try straight away. My advice would be to master the other methods that Desmond shows before trying this. If you already have some experience of working in internet marketing then this can be a highly lucrative method of making sales. It’s unfair of me to say too much about this as I’m not sure Desmond would be happy if I gave too much away.
What I can say is that this method will not only make good money in sales but will also help build an email list which is even more valuable, as you can continue to sell to each subscriber time and time again month after month. Building a list is not always the easiest thing to do but can be the most powerful, you will find that the marketers who make the most money will make the majority of it through their list.
Sniper Web Method
This is a method that I know all about as the majority of the money I make is achieved using this method. The slight difference in the way that Desmond does it is that he takes a few shortcuts which save him a lot of time. That said what he saves on time actually costs him money, so again if you are new to internet marketing then I suggest you take the slightly longer route but incur no additional cost.
Again, it would be unfair of me to give to much away but I am happy to tell you that I made $5,000 in one day using this method. At this point I am legally obliged to make you aware that this does not mean that you will make the same as me. You could make more or you could make less. It depends on the product you choose to promote and the amount of commission you get for each sale. The product I was promoting paid me $800 for each sale!
Niche Influencing Method
This is another method that I feel would be best used if you have some internet marketing experience. Why? Well you will need the help of the product owner for the chosen product that you wish to promote. If you are just starting out and have no history then it may be hard for you to persuade that person for their help.
However, if you have some kind of track record and the product owner feels you can send him through sales, maybe you have promoted for him before and generated a few sale, then he will be more than willing to help in anyway he can. I do like this method a lot, I know people who have successfully used and it is definitely one to keep in mind, but I just feel you have more chance once you have a little experience behind you.
Blog Flipping 101
Blog flipping is what Desmond does best, this is how he first got involved with internet marketing. This section might even be worth the cost for the entire course as Desmond is one of the best at making money in this way. He is still paid huge amounts of money to teach people how to blog flip properly so he really is the person to learn from.
If you master this method you can easily earn $100-$400 per day! As the name suggest this is about building a blog and selling it for profit. I don’t think I need to say too much this as everyone online knows that Desmond is the man when it comes to blog flipping. Of course, it’s not just as simple as building a blog and selling it, it has to be a blog that has value. I understand that Desmond will soon be adding Blog Flipping 202 to this method as well.
Ultra Penetration Method
This method is going to best used if you want to build an email list in a specific niche. While it can work for promoting products as well I think it is best served for list building. If you ask me, I would much rather have one person added to my list than one sale anyway. Why is this? Well one person on your list can and often will buy from you time and time again so you get multiple commissions all from one person.
Someone who buys through your affiliate link will be added to the product owners list and not your and they will benefit a lot more than you. I therefore recommend that you target one niche and make yourself a name in that niche and promote a number of different products.
The Top 10 Method
This is another method that I feel is best suited to list building rather than making sales, so my thoughts are much the same as they were for the method above. What I would say is that I know another top marketer who uses this to build his list and he has recommended it to me before, so despite never doing it myself I do know that it works.
Emergency Money Plan: The Conclusion
My overall thoughts on Desmond’s course is that it has a number of good strategies that can be used by both the beginner and more experienced marketer. If you are just getting started with online marketing then I suggest you concentrate on the Sneaky Affiliate Pull, YouTube Dominantion, Affiliate Desperado and Web Sniper Methods until you are earning a nice amount of money and want to grow your business from there.
The video tutorials are all walk throughs with Desmond showing you how to do every step from his computer, so you will have know exactly what sites and tools you should be using and how to implement each step.
But Is It All Good?
The answer to this is yes and no. Yes the course provides a lot of useful information, that if used correctly will make you a lot of money, but not all of it can be used straight away – I have already mentioned that some of the modules are more suited to people who have been working online for a little while and have a better understanding over how certain things work. You cannot expect to start from scratch and straight away implement all of these strategies.
But as I said above, if you are new and concentrate on 3 or 4 of the methods to begin with then you will soon be making money and can then look at the other methods in the future. They are definitely good to know and once you understand how they work you can use them time and time again.
In my opinion one of the best methods on the course is the Sniper Web Method, but in order to make money you need tofirst find a product, build a website, write articles and then point links at your site. Sounds like a lot of work, right?
